Rawxies

Foxy raw goodness -- that's how I'd describe Rawxies!  These heart-shaped treats are not only the cutest treats you'll ever see, they are also delicious and nutritious.

So what are they and what makes them different? For one, they are oat-based bars as opposed to date- or nut-based bars, which means they are low-glycemic and slow-digesting so they'll keep you satiated for an extended period of time. They are also raw, vegan, gluten-free, low sugar, and mostly organic.

They were created by a girl named Callie who spent seven years of her life studying and testing different theories like the low-fat and low-carb diets, then one day decided to eliminate all processed foods from her diet and eat more raw fruits and vegetables. That was when it finally clicked for her. Her allergies decreased, her chronic stomach pains ceased, and her hormones became more stable. She was so excited about her discovery that it led her to develop these cute little treats and now she wants to share them with world.

Through Vegan Cuts, the most awesome vegan discount store on the internet, I received samples of four of the six flavors. Of the four, I liked the lemon poppyseed Rawxies the best. They had a great balance of lemon and poppyseed along with other core ingredients such as oat groats, almonds, coconut, dates, and palm sugar.

I thought that the banana nut bread made a great quick breakfast. I really enjoyed the descriptions on the front of each package as well. This one stated, "Inspired by Grandma, this cookie is the epitome of homemade banana nut bread, crafted with fresh bananas, crunchy pecans and walnuts, and delicate warm spices."

While the cranberry pecan and mint chocolate chip were also pretty good.

Although the treats were a bit dry, I think they have good flavor and are a great, healthy, in-between meals snack. The all-natural ingredients make for a great alternative to unhealthy snacks that are more readily available. Currently, they are sold in stores in California, Kansas, Missouri, and New York. But, the best way to get them is online through VeganCuts. You can buy an 8-pack here for just $18...but, wait, there's more. By using the discount code "BLOGFRIEND" before 10/31/12, you can save an additional 10% off your order (not including shipping). Order today and then, you too, can be rawxie.
