PROBAR - fruition

PROBAR recently came out with some gluten-free fruit-based bars called "fruition." PROBAR, most well-known for their whole meal replacement bars, is joining the rest of the market in creating gluten-free products that contain "superfoods." These bars are designed to be satisfying on-the-go vegan bars without added extra fat and calories. I really like that these bars contain real fruit and organic ingredients. They are low in fat at about 3 grams of fat each and low in calories at about 160 calories each.

The bars are made of raw date paste, brown rice syrup, cashews, gluten-free raw oats, and chia seeds. Chia seeds seem to be the hot item right now as they are loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids, which promote cardiovascular and mental health. Chia seeds are also a complete source of protein.

All of these things are good things, but I have to admit, I had to eat a few of these before I really got used to the gluten-free oats. I generally don't prefer gluten-free oats as I find them to be chewy and gritty with an unpleasant taste. I much prefer regular oats. But, as I ate these bars over the course of a week, I grew to like them. They are light, not too filling, and good for you.

My favorite one was the chocolate orange flavor that has chunky chocolate chips in it.

My second favorite one was the cran-raspberry. It is super flavorful with chunky cashews and a great cranberry/raspberry taste.

Other flavors include the cherry, strawberry, peach, blueberry, and lemon.

The bottom line is that these are some great low-fat bars for individuals following a gluten-free diet. They are also a nice alternative to most of the high-fat bars on the market and great as a mid-day snack.
