Gaby Bars

I am a big fan of nutritional bars so when Gaby Hermida contacted me and asked me if I'd try her "Gaby Bars," I was happy to accept the offer! Gaby Bars are created by hand by Gaby herself in her home kitchen.  She created these bars when she was seeking a healthy, natural, organic bar without the preservatives found in most store-bought brands.  As an avid runner, Gaby wanted to make a bar with a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and good fats that would allow her to maintain a sustainable energy level. She found that other bars would give you a short peak in energy, then a sudden drop-off, which isn't good for endurance.

Peanut Butter

I don't typically eat before or after my workouts (although I probably should) so I just consumed these bars as snacks in between meals. Even though they are relatively small as compared to some store-bought bars, they are really satisfying. I found that when I had them in-between meals, I didn't crave anything else.

She sent me both the vegan peanut butter and chocolate flavors and I loved them both. They have more of a homemade wholesome texture to them - a good-for-you type bar.  The chocolate one had a delicious light chocolate taste that wasn't at all too overbearing.

Chocolate

The peanut butter flavor was nutty, chewy, and addictive -- every time I had one, I wanted another!

Best of all, these bars are made of wholesome organic ingredients -- oats, quinoa, sunflower seeds, almond butter or peanut butter, cinnamon, salt, cocoa, and agave nectar. She makes vegan and non-vegan bars so be sure to specify vegan bars to get the ones with agave nectar rather than honey.
Each bar has 159 calories, 4 grams of protein, 20 grams of carbohydrates, and 7 grams of fat. There are only 1.5 grams of sugar per bar and about 2 grams of fiber per bar as well. How's that for a healthy bar?!

I'm really glad Gaby gave me the opportunity to try her bars. Now I want more! If you are interested in trying them, she now sells them in packages of 10 for $12.00 and if you are indecisive, you can get the bars made half chocolate and half peanut butter - like an ice cream cone!  To order your own, click here because I'm not willing to share mine.  :)
